Studying Aged Care (Individual Support) at Sunraysia Institute of TAFE provides students with the skills to care for people in the later stages of life in their own homes or a dedicated facility. Many countries in the world have ageing populations, and with longer life expectancies there are increasing opportunities for employment in the aged care sector.
This course includes assisting with personal hygiene, providing first aid, learning how to assist clients with medication, complying with infection prevention, supporting and empowering older people and understanding healthy body systems.

English Proficiency | IELTS 5.5 or equivalent test score OR successful completion of Upper Intermediate ELICOS at Sunraysia Institute of TAFE. |
Academic Requirements | Successful completion of the equivalent of Australian Year 11 high school studies. |
Other Requirements | Students must be at least 18 years old when they commence studies. An Australian Police Check at the student’s expense must be provided before the work placement. |
Course Progression | Students need to complete their Level 2 First Aid Certificate before commencing work placement. |
Materials | Students require a uniform for work placement. SuniTAFE will provide one t-shirt and students need to provide their own black/navy pants and appropriate footwear. |
Practical component | A 3 week full-time work placement of 120 hours is included in this course. Classes also take place in a simulated training environment. |
